Betty Smith's efforts were introduced on "Japan Up Close," an information website for overseas audiences run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and experts in various fields.

Ecobetty was born in 2002 after being featured in an elementary school textbook, and is now being featured as an ethical initiative originating from Kurashiki.
